A weblog , better known in colloquial language as a blog , is a digital publication whose contents are presented chronologically . The weblog, in this way, resembles a newspaper or a blog , where one or more authors offer articles.

Weblogs were born, in fact, as virtual spaces for people who wanted to share their experiences or opinions. Therefore, they are considered as an evolution of the typical personal or intimate diaries , with the great difference that, in the case of weblogs, what is written is made public.

According to the logic of these websites , the most recent information entries (also known as posts ) appear first on the screen, developing a chronological order that goes from newest to oldest. Currently, however, there are multiple ways to present information through templates. Thus, the difference between the weblog and other types of sites (such as a portal ), tends to be blurred.

Many are the people who, for pleasure or work to promote themselves professionally, make the decision to start their own blog or weblog. However, it is important that, first, they are clear about the fundamental characteristics that space must have in order to be considered quality:
-The blog title must be between 40 and 60 characters, but it must never exceed this last figure because, in in that case, it would lose all effectiveness.
-It must have a design that is striking, but at the same time, does not overload. In the same way, it must have easy and intuitive navigation.
-When writing the titles of the entries or posts it is important that they attract the attention of the reader, are surprising, pose a list (the 5 best tips ...), excite or simply be useful.
-It is important that, for the weblog to achieve visitors and loyal followers, the publications are made periodically and on the same days.
-With regard to the number of words of the entries, it is recommended that they have an extension of between 300 to 1,000 words, according to the experts.
-To attract more attention, the posts must have photographs or videos.

In the same way, it is necessary to make it known that for a weblog to be successful and grow, it is essential that it is made known on social networks and that it is active in them.

One of the most salient features of the weblog is that it generally allows readers to leave comments . Although this option is regulated by the administrator of the blog, it is usual that interaction is allowed and debate on the published content is encouraged .

WordPress and Blogger are two of the most popular platforms for developing weblogs. These two services are part of the content managers known as CMS . There are companies that, using the same CMS , develop blog networks : numerous weblogs on different topics that are interrelated through links, banners, etc.
