PROPHECY

The Latin word vaticinĭum came to our language as a prediction . It is an omen , a foreboding , a forecast or a prophecy . For example: "According to the journalist's prediction, the pro-government candidate will prevail in the ballot" , "The economists' predictions for the second semester are not very optimistic" , "My prediction was fulfilled! Uncle Héctor was late again ” .

Predictions can be comments that are made without much analysis or logical support . In this case, they are predictions made in an informal context: "My prediction is that I will beat you three to zero: I am unbeatable playing the PlayStation" , "I am going to prepare a delicious dinner and show you that your prediction about my culinary skills It was wrong ” , “ Enough predictions: let's hope the draw begins and then we will know who will be the winner ” .

Occasionally, predictions are associated with mystical or supernatural powers . It is known as "Predictions of Nostradamus" , in this sense, a series of watercolors created by the seer Nostradamus ( 1503 - 1566 ), in which there are those who believe that the author anticipates future events .

In the same way, we cannot ignore that what is considered to be predictions carried out by members of the Mayan civilization have also been given much prominence in our current society. Specifically, among the most significant are the following:
-On December 21, 2012 the world of materialism and existing hatred would end.
-The temperature of the planet will change and will bring with it important changes at the climatic and geological level.
-The eclipse of the sun on August 11, 1999 would cause society to change to synchronize with the world, with the universe.
-There will be a notable melting of what is the ice at the poles.
-It is indicated that there will be a significant risk for all humanity, since a comet will approach the Earth.
-It will have a new harmony between human beings.

For many, the predictions of the Mayans are pure speculation because many of those they indicated have not come true. However, for others they are very accurate, hence they give value to those they carry out for 2017 and which have been published by scholars who are in charge of interpreting their legacy:
-Important changes will take place at the political level around the world and especially in what is Latin America.
-There will be numerous earthquakes, hurricanes and tornadoes.
-There will also be many rains and floods.
-Society, in general, will also change notably due to these transformations that will take place at the political level.

"Vaticinia de Summis Pontificibus" , on the other hand, are texts written in Latin that refer to the elections of the popes of the Catholic Church .

They can also be indicated as predictions to forecasts that are carried out with scientific or rational criteria . When a meteorologist, after analyzing information provided by satellites and other instruments, anticipates what the weather will be like in the coming days, it could be said that he offers a prediction. Although these forecasts may fail, they are developed according to systematized studies and proven knowledge.
