HOLIDAYS

Vacations is the plural of vacations , a term that comes from the Latin vacatio and that refers to the rest of a habitual activity . It is the period in which people who study or work temporarily suspend their obligations.

Holidays

Holidays are associated with rest , leisure and tourism . On the one hand, the subject who is on vacation usually tries to rest from the efforts that work or study entails . That is why it is common that, during the vacation period, you modify your routines and wake up later.

Vacations are linked to leisure as they represent the opportunity to embark on those pleasant activities that, due to lack of time, cannot be carried out during work or class time. Going on excursions, going to the movies or the theater, spending the afternoon in a park and visiting a museum are some common activities during the holidays.

In terms of tourism, vacation days offer the opportunity to travel and stay for several days or weeks at the destination, which considerably increases relaxation compared to a weekend getaway. In the summer, the most frequent trips are made to the beach areas while, in winter, people usually choose the mountains and snow.

In some cases, vacations can also be used to carry out procedures that, in the rest of the year, are not carried out due to lack of time.

Holidays allow, in short, to reduce stress and other pathologies derived from obligations, help to improve productivity during the rest of the year and promote economic growth from tourism.

HolidaysVacation destinations in the shadows

The list of the world's most popular vacation destinations has remained intact for decades, adding some option only in exceptional cases, such as an archaeological discovery that increases the interest of people in a certain country . But far from the Caribbean and Paris, there are a series of highly attractive cities that only a few dare to discover year after year.

Trieste

Italy offers so many vacation options that most tourists tend to overlook this beautiful maritime city , which borders Slovenia and is the point of convergence of diverse cultures. At its peak, it was the most important port of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and had prestigious residents, among whom was James Joyce (a novelist of Irish origin known mainly for his novel " Ulysses ", which he began to write in Trieste).

Arras

Those who have visited this incredible French city recommend that anyone dedicate at least one day of their life to its imposing architecture dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, the unforgettable views from its bell tower and its Flemish-style squares. For history buffs, surely the 22 kilometers of underground tunnels that Arras inherited from World War II are reason enough to buy the ticket.

Gujarat

It is a state in the northwest of India, which offers its visitors a tranquility and hospitality that are hard to beat. Among the highlights is the island of Diu, a former colony of Portuguese origin. On the other hand, we have the city of Bhuj and the Kutch salt flats, with a very interesting fauna, including flamingos and native wild asses.

Chongqing

For centuries, this Chinese city has lived in the shadows of its Sichuan border. However, they have little to envy the landscapes offered by its Yangzi River and its peculiar spicy cuisine. In Chongqing it is possible to appreciate the contrast between the present and the past of this ancient soil, thanks to its rural areas, which seem to have come from an old painting and which inevitably coexist with modernity.
