ZOMBIE
Zombie is a term from the English language that, in our language, translates as zombie . It is a corpse that, through some kind of spell, has been revived . A zombie, therefore, is an undead.
Although the concept can be used with multiple nuances, it is generally used in reference to the deceased who was resurrected by a magical element and who obeys the orders of the one who resurrected him. This meaning is common in voodoo : those who profess this religion believe that a bokor (a kind of priest who performs black magic) can perform a ritual to revive a dead individual and make him his slave.
It can be said that a zombie is a creature without conscience or self-determination , that only follows orders or that acts on impulse. The most common representations show zombies as beings of zero intelligence, although of great physical strength.
Zombies are often portrayed as cannibals : when they bite a (living) person, that person also becomes a zombie. As for the appearance of zombies, they usually have very pale or greenish skin, which even falls off in different layers, as if it were rotten.
In recent years the world of zombies on television has achieved an important role, it seems that they have returned to the present day and all that is thanks to the series "The Walking Dead".
It is a North American production that began its journey in 2010 and has managed to sweep half the world, hence a new season has recently been signed.
Frank Darabont is the creator of it, inspired by the homonymous comic by Robert Kirkman, and tells how the world has turned into a real chaos. And so a police officer discovers when he wakes up from the coma in which he has been mired for a long time.
Now society is not how he lived, now the zombies have conquered the world and only a few small groups of humans manage to resist by hiding and trying to kill those undead as they can. And precisely one of those, where his family is, is joined by the aforementioned agent of authority.
Numerous international awards, millions of fans around the world and audience records are some of the endorsements of this series that has become one of the most viewed in history.
To all the above, we have to add that one of the most relevant songs of the British group The Cranberries is entitled precisely "Zombie". It is part of his second album, "No need to argue" (1995) and brings us closer to the conflict in Northern Ireland.
Symbolically, one who acts without thinking or in an automatic way, spellbound by something, is usually described as a zombie . For example : “Give up video games for a while! You cannot be all day like a zombie in front of the screen ” , “ I don't understand Walter: he obeys the boss like a zombie, never questioning anything ” .
