WATTMETER

The wattmeter is the device that allows the measurement of the watts in a current of electricity. Watt, also known as watt , is the unit of measurement that equals one joule per second and is used to measure power .

We must be aware that there are fundamentally two types of wattmeters: analog wattmeter and digital wattmeter.

Wattmeters are made up of a moving coil (the voltmeter coil ) and two stationary coils (the amperometric coils ). The voltmeter coil is connected to the electrical circuit in parallel, while the amperometric coils have a series connection .

When electric current circulates through the amperometric coils, an electromagnetic field is produced that has a power proportional to the current. The voltmeter coil, for its part, has a resistance that allows minimizing the current flowing through it. Through a needle located in the voltmeter coil, the wattmeter indicates the power of the circuit.

It is important to note that overloading can damage the wattmeter coils, causing measurements to become inaccurate. According to the current , the voltage and the power factor, the superheat will be lower or higher.

Other data that is worth knowing about the aforementioned device are these:
-The amperometric coil or ammeter, what it does directly is to measure the intensity of the electric current. The unit of measurement that it uses is the ampere and then also other "submeasures" such as the milliamp or even the microampere. It has a parallel resistance that responds to the name of shunt.
