RURAL ZONE

Zona is a concept with several uses. In this case, we are interested in keeping its meaning as the sector of a surface or a piece of land. Rural, for its part, is that which is linked to the countryside.

The idea of a rural area, therefore, is linked to a territory with a small number of inhabitants where the main economic activity is agriculture. In this way, the rural area differs from the urban area, which has a greater number of inhabitants and an economy oriented towards industry or services.

Rural areas are made up of fields in which agriculture is developed and cattle are raised . The raw materials obtained in these areas are then sent to the cities, where they are processed and consumed.

While in the cities most of the land exhibits buildings and there are various infrastructure works, the rural areas have few buildings. The rural area, in this way, favors an approach to nature.

In a rural area of Country X, two hundred people can live who are dedicated to growing tomatoes and soybeans, making cheese from the milk they get from their dairy farms, and raising cattle and pigs. In a city of the same nation, on the other hand, there are 500,000 people who work in the banking sector, the media and many other industries.

More and more people, contrary to the majority of the population, decide to leave the big city to start living in a rural area. Why? Because they consider that this means improving their quality of life in many ways:

-They put aside the pollution of large cities and begin to breathe fresh air.

-They are in permanent contact with nature.

-It allows them to forget the stress, the rush and the tumults of the cities.

-It is an economic saving, inasmuch as, among many other things, it does not require having to deal with the very high rents of housing in cities and even the cost of other elements such as public transport.

-There is a closer and more humane contact between the neighbors.

-In addition, it gives the possibility of being able to eat in a healthier way, through products that are directly obtained from the earth, without intermediaries of any kind.

On the contrary, there are those who totally reject living in a rural area for various reasons:

-There are fewer alternatives both at work and educational, cultural or leisure levels.

-Public services, such as health, are much more limited.

-Everyone knows each other, so intimacy and privacy are more limited. The same does not happen in the cities where everyone does and undoes without anyone knowing who they are.

-The options to enjoy free time are quite limited.

It is important to mention that, in some countries, the definition of rural area is established by law according to the number of inhabitants or other criteria. After the establishment of rural areas, there are differentiated tax regimes, specific subsidies, etc.
